Marlone led his GripTape Challenger project called “STEAM” (STEM with Art) which had students at his local underfunded Elementary School draw something they learned from their math or science classes for a prize. His goal with this project was to help students become more interested in seeing STEM fields in a more personalized and creative way. Marlone hopes to bring greater socioeconomic mobility especially to his local community through education.
As a leader in the “Passion Discovery” aspect of GripTape, Marlone continues his desire to spread people’s interest in academics beyond his previous school. He works on creating personality quizzes that help students better figure out what they’re passionate about, helping increase the number of students interested in GripTape and their confidence in their futures.
Beyond his advocacy for education, Marlone likes to listen to music, read, draw, and talk about almost anything in his free time. He’s an avid bike rider and loves sushi. If you see him, feel free to ask him what his favorite song is, and he’ll never stop talking!
